Abdominal aortic aneurysm can now be definitively treated by means of endovascular stenting. Though significant shortand long-term morbidity has been reported, this less invasive procedure is increasing in popularity and has been championed by some as an alternative option for high-risk patients who might otherwise be offered conservative management. We review the perioperative management of endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) and cover the issues pertinent to anaesthetists. & 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Frequency of Complications Following Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in Tehran Sina Hospital, 2011-2019
Background and purpose: Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is a localized enlargement of infrarenal abdominal aorta. Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is a surgical method introduced for AAA repair. This study, for the first time in Iran, investigated the complications and mortality rate associated with EVAR. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, medical records were reviewed...
متن کاملContinuous Spinal Anaesthesia for Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in High-Risk Patient.
Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is increasingly being used in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) treatment, as it is less invasive than open surgery. A wide range of anaesthetic types, such as general anaesthesia, neuroaxial blocks and local anaesthesia, have been shown to be appropriate for the EVAR procedure. In the continuous spinal anaesthesia (CSA) method, the local anaesthetic may be tit...
متن کاملAn Aortoenteric Fistula Arising after Endovascular Management of a Mycotic Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Complicated with a Psoas Abscess
Mycotic aortic aneurysms account for 1–3% of all aortic aneurysms. The management of this disease is controversial. Since open surgical repair is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates, endovascular aneurysm repair is an alternative treatment method with promising early and midterm outcomes, although its long-term durability is unknown.Secondary aortoenteric fistulas may occur iatro...
متن کاملLong-term safety and efficacy of endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
Endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) is a safe and efficacious treatment for both unruptured and ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms. While perioperative mortality is lower with EVAR, long-term outcomes are similar between EVAR and open repair, including quality of life and cost-effectiveness. We review the long-term outcomes from the EUROSTAR registry, and DREAM, EVAR 1, and OV...
متن کاملRuptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm with Antecedent Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Late aortic rupture following successful endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm still does occur. It represents the ultimate failure of endovascular aortic repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm (EVAR) and subjects patients to equivalent risk of death as de novo rupture. Unfortunately, it is difficult to identify patients at risk for post-EVAR rupture as many present with aortic rupture ...
